Not one solution

Lately, every day brings a new set of rules we cannot control. Turn off the news and leave them go.

What also happens is every "shelter in place" day brings you and me a shortlist of actions, goals, and ideas.  Some don't leave the index card we wrote them down on, some jump off the card by 10 am with a set of rules that we get to choose in order to provide solutions.

This month, in what was an incredible feat, our organization rolled out telehealth on a Monday in response to the shelter in place orders imposed on a Friday.

Impressive.

The thing is, it seems like it will take a textbook of solutions to help us dig out. Like telehealth, more ideas will be needed, and more will follow...like teaching proper lung, ribcage, and thoracic exercises.

All in the spirit of many solutions.

Proud to be part of industry leaders.

The 16% rule

We are all in denial.

The business we had yesterday is gone, replaced by a ground zero formula that only you and I can define.

Where do you start a formula to connect and market to customers that need your services once again?

Lets look at the 5 stages of technology adoption.

https://ondigitalmarketing.com/learn/odm/foundations/5-customer-segments-technology-adoption/

From a simple marketing perspective, if 84% of our promotions are aimed to go to the  mass that takes sometimes 7 times to hear our message (Marketing rule of 7), then lets work with the 16% of the customers that know us already, talk about us often, and are sometimes closer to us then our own family.

Go to early adopters and innovators, your business family that heard about you once and committed, remain loyal, and talk proudly about you.

Who is your business family?

  • The 3x+ repeat customers
  • The first responders to a new marketing message
  • The referral sources you have their personal phone number
  • The business to business networks that support your business and you support their business
  • The proud family members at home
  • The fitness members that come to your Physical Therapy center
  • The community influencers like the Chamber presidents, Board Directors, and business owners

Some say they are the raving customers, the early adopters of our services.

You many remember your first patient, or your first referral after that first doctor visit and handshake.

The 16% rule, go there.

Virtual Therapy and soft skills

When we were 5 years old someone taught us to say thank you.

Image may contain: 1 person, smilingWhen we were 12 we earned our first five, banked it, and spent it wisely on bubble gum and baseball cards.

High school triggered first dates, juggling jobs with studies, while college stretched us to manage time and build relationships.

Hundreds of years ago, life's hard lessons taught us the skills they call soft.

You learned them the first cold french frie order you served to a customer.  Bartending and serving warm beer?  Yup, you learn to read body language quickly.

Maybe we sheltered the next group of workers, coddled them through childhood, believing there was a shortage of second place trophies.

Berkeley University offers a soft skill course called "Adulting", helping today's college students manage time, physical resources, and nurture relationships.  The parents that coddled our kids pay the unintended consequences of tuition.

The good news is, Physical Therapists learn soft skills fast with their first rotation.  Just try out one virtual care visit to see how well they communicate and connect; there is nothing soft about their great skill set!

Better yet, with intention, Physical Therapists utilize soft skills better than all other healthcare providers.
